Antigua and Barbuda is an island nation located in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. Antigua and Barbuda are one of the popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean. Located in the middle of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean, Antigua & Barbuda were first inhabited by the Amerindians in 2400 BC. Antigua Island changed its named from Wadadli after the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1493. The island became an independent state on 1 November 1981.
